Services and Treatments

There are lots of ways you can change your relationship with alcohol.
Once you've had an assessment, your alcohol specialist will talk you through the treatments and services that will best help.

01

Healthy Lifestyle Advice

We recognise that stress can have an impact on our wellbeing and can even make us turn to alcohol to cope.
We provide support and advice around physical activity, nutrition and managing stress.

02

1-to-1 Keyworking

We recognise that the recovery journey is different for each individual.
Our keyworkers provide tailored packages of care to help you achieve your goals.

03

Group work

New Beginnings delivers a wide range of structured and open access groups.
Our specialist Reduced Drinking Programme is for individuals that want to become more aware of their alcohol intake and start to reduce it or to prepare for a detox regime.

04

Recovery Day Programme

The Recovery Day Programme is a new and innovative, abstinence-based 12-week group programme.
It provides a variety of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), solution-focused and positive psychology and is backed up by experienced Peer Support Workers to help people effectively overcome their addiction.

It is headed by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with a team of Group Facilitators, Peer support workers and Psychology graduates to help service users develop the life skills necessary to make positive behaviour change.

The programme is a 12 week, full-time group treatment package followed by six months of recovery support and CBT guided self-help.

05

Counselling

Accessing talking therapies shouldn't be difficult.
We offer counselling and recovery support as a keystone of our service. We can offer regular appointments to address addiction and associated issues.

06

Community-based detoxification

New Beginnings offer community-based alcohol detoxification as a safe and effective option for the majority of alcohol dependent patients.
The alcohol community detox is done under the supervision of doctor and specialist nurses. Research recommends that alcohol detoxification should not occur in isolation and hence at the service detoxification is offered part of an integrated treatment package that includes assessment, medications, motivational enhancement therapy, psychology, mutual aid and aftercare (12 weeks recovery day programme).

Residents of Brent with mild to moderate dependence can be offered a detoxification from alcohol in the community followed by a robust after care package to ensure they do not relapse.

07

Residential Rehab

New Beginnings offers assessment for Community Care funding for residential rehabilitation.
You will be given the opportunity to explore if this is the right option for you and the type of rehab you may want to attend.

08

Fibroscan

Brent New Beginnings offer fibroscanning to all alcohol service users accessing the service in Brent.
A Fibroscan is a type of scan that can measure the ‘stiffness’ of your liver, which in turn reflects
the degree of scarring in your liver (fibrosis).

It is a simple, painless test which gives immediate results. It does not have any potential complications or risks and is non-invasive, which means that it does not break the skin or enter your body.

Having a Fibroscan will help your doctor/nurse understand the condition of your liver and if there is any scarring (fibrosis) present. This will help them to plan your care and treatment.

09
