How many units are in cider?

How many units are in cider?

Despite its sweetness, cider can be deceivingly strong. Just three pints of 7.5% cider takes you up to 12.9 units. Remember if you drink over the guidelines of 14 units per week, you could be increasing your chances of developing long-term health conditions.

Always check the label

Remember, the strength of your cider can vary a lot; anything from 3.5% ABV to as high as 12%, which works out to be a big difference in a single drink.

Cider and the Low Risk Guidelines

One pint of 5% ABV cider contains 2.8 units. So drinking just 5 pints of 5% ABV cider will take you to the limit of the low-risk guidelines of 14 units spread over a week.

Two pints of 5% ABV cider contains 5.6 units, for a female, this is close to the 'binge' limit of 6 units.
